Christopher Stanley The family of Christopher Stanley warmly invites all who knew and loved him to join them in celebrating his life. Rather than focusing on our loss, we invite you to come celebrate the incredible man he was and the lasting impact he made on so many lives. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mathews Funeral Home. Public visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow. Whether Christopher was family, a friend, a coworker, or someone whose life he touched along the way, we welcome you to come celebrate the legacy of a man who loved deeply, served faithfully, and lived for Christ. Christopher Stanley, 53, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026. Born on March 13, 1973, in Roanoke, Christopher was the son of the late Alvin Stanley and Darlene Stanley. He was a devoted husband to Katina Stanley, a loving father, a proud “Poppa,” and a faithful servant of God whose life was defined by compassion, humility, and unwavering love for others. Christopher dedicated 26 years of his life to serving his community as a paramedic. In addition to his work on the ambulance service, he faithfully served as the service’s chaplain, offering hope, comfort, and prayer to coworkers and those facing life’s most difficult moments. His calling was never just a profession—it was a ministry. He deeply loved his ER family and the friendships he built throughout his years of service. To Christopher, his coworkers were more than colleagues—they were family. He found great joy in fishing, serving wherever there was a need, and spending time with those he loved. He also had a gift for bringing people together through food. Whether he was baking a favorite dessert or cooking a meal for family, friends, or coworkers, he found happiness in serving others around the table. Above all else, Christopher loved Jesus and his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and anyone who knew him quickly learned how proud he was of each one of them. If you knew Christopher, you knew about his family, because they were the greatest joy of his life. Christopher is survived by his beloved wife, Katina Stanley; his children, Jaimi Stanley, Jimmy Johnson, Sabrina Walker, Morgan Stanley, and Jules Stanley; and his treasured grandchildren, Rachael Stanley, Caiden Johnson, Gabby Johnson, Sophie Hayes, Chloe Johnson, Gracie Johnson, Leo Ellis Stanley, Maegan Walker, Jacie Johnson, Elijah Walker and Maysen Johnson. He is also survived by his mother, Darlene Stanley and his mother in law Becky Duhon; his brothers, Aaron Stanley (Danielle), Scott Stanley (Cheree) and his brother in law Dean Duhon (Shannon) along with nine nieces and nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Stanley, his father in law Garrette Dean Duhon and his beloved grandparents. Christopher will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his unwavering faith, his gentle spirit, and the genuine love he showed to everyone he met. He lived his life as the hands and feet of Jesus, always willing to help someone in need and never expecting anything in return. He loved fiercely, laughed often, and left every place and every person better than he found them. His legacy of faith, service, generosity, and love will continue to live on through his family, friends, coworkers, and all who were blessed to know him. The family finds comfort in the words of Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want… Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that Christopher is home with his Savior. While we will miss him every day, we celebrate a life that was lived with purpose, compassion, and unwavering faith. His greatest legacy is the love he poured into his family, the countless lives he served, and the example of Christ he reflected to everyone who knew him.
