Ray Abraham

Jennings: It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that our father, grandfather, brother, and friend Ray Abraham passed on May 6, 2022. Ray was born in Evangeline, LA on December 30, 1928, to Willie Abraham and Aline Simar Abraham. Ray worked as a Production Supervisor in the Petroleum Industry and was a great provider for his family. He retired from Amoco after many years of service. Ray loved to fish, travel with his wife, whom he adored throughout their 68-year marriage. He was a very faithful Christian all his life. Ray was a kind and generous man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ray is survived by his sons, Roger Dale Abraham of Scott, LA, Kenneth Dewayne Abraham (Debra) of Lafayette, LA; his daughter, Renella Abraham Turner (Dewayne) of Jennings, LA; his grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel, Randy III, Angel, Alice, Kennon, & Anthony; his sisters, Myrtis Abraham; Thelma Boutin, & Maisie Gotte; as well as his sister-in-law, Janet Champagne. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Champagne Abraham; one son, Randy Keith Abraham, II; his parents, Willie & Aline Abraham; his sisters, Margery Smith, & Nelarine Benoit; grandchildren, Roger Turner & Jason Turner. A Celebration of Ray ‘s life will be held at First Pentecostal Church in Jennings, LA on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Brother James Townley officiating. Burial will follow in D’Augereau Cemetery. Those chosen to honor Ray as his pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandsons. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the First Pentecostal Church in Jennings, LA at 8:00 AM and continue until the time of his Service at 11:00 AM.
