Norma Jean Hanks Jennings: It is with the heaviest of hearts and great sadness that the family of Norma Jean Hanks announces that she was called from her earthly life to join her family that preceded her in death on March 19, 2022, at the age of 81. Norma was born in Dulac, LA to Oris Carlos and Frances Chassion Carlos on October 6, 1940. Norma was a homemaker, who dedicated her life to caring for her family that she cherished with all her heart. Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, whose greatest joy came from spending time and making memories with her family. She also enjoyed fishing, and cooking for her family. She was a kind, and warm-hearted soul who will be immensely missed by all who loved her. Those left to cherish the memories of Norma are, her two sons, Oris (Bridget) Hanks of Lacassine, LA, Kevin (Rhonda) Hanks of Jennings, LA; Her daughter-in-law, Lizzie LaPointe of Thibodeaux, LA; her six grandchildren, Amber (Adam) , Beau (Brittany), Corey, Johnathan, Devin, & Eric; her three great grandchildren, Ori, Bella, & Adalyn; her three sisters, Earline (Billy) Duplantis of Dulac, LA, Margie Fruge of Jennings, LA, Frances (Zack) Giroir of Houma, LA Norma is now with the family that preceded her in death her parents, Oris & Frances Carlos; her husband, Robert Hanks; her son, Robert Lee Hanks; her grandson, Christopher Hanks; her two brothers, Druis Carlos & Robert Carlos; her two sisters, Patricia LeBeouf & Evelyn Brake; her stepbrother, Calvin Carlos. Funeral Services for Norma Jean Hanks, 81 of Mermentau, LA will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 2:30 PM with Father Schumacher officiating. Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Those chosen to honor Norma as her pallbearers will be Johnathan Hanks, Devin Hanks, Eric Hanks, Corey Hanks, Beau Hanks, and Adam Hymel. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 9:30 AM until the time of her Service at 2:30 PM with a Rosary being recited at 11:00 AM.
