Michael Anthony Michel, Sr. Gueydan: Michael was born on March 2, 1960, in St. Louis, MO, LA to George Louis Michel and Mozella Nina Raines and was called from his earthly home to his heavenly home on March 11, 2022, at 9:23 AM. He was faithful member of Israelite Baptist Church. He especially loved to hear the choir sing. He had a great sense of humor; his smile could always turn it around if his loved ones were sad. Michael loved watching movies, two of his favorites were Silverwood & Major League. He also loved sports, especially the New Orleans Saints, and the St. Louis Cardinals. His greatest joys came from getting together with family and friends and Barbecuing. Everyone loved his BBQ. Michael will be deeply missed by those who knew & loved him. Michael is survived by his wife, Tomisha Michel of Gueydan, LA; his daughters, Mary Blevins of Wynona, MO, Cassie Akers of Wyoming; his son, Michael Akers of New Orleans, LA; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Cretchen of Gueydan, LA; his uncle, Dudley Cretchen of Gueydan, LA; his aunts, Donna Hollier of Shreveport, LA, Anna Duplechain of Mermentau, LA, Brenda Campbell of Gueydan, LA, Wanda Cretchen of Jennings, LA; his brothers, Philip Coronin (Connie) of St. Louis, MO, Larry Cronin (Laura), of St. Louis, MO; his niece, Sara Lira (Alva) of St. Petersburg, FL; his thirteen grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Mozella Nia Raines & George Michel; his grandparents, Charles Raines, Mettie Matthews, Steven Gibbs Raines & John Leland Raines. Funeral services for Michael Anthony Michel, 62 of Gueydan, LA will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held on March 19, 2022, at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of his Funeral Service.
