Clyde Smith Jennings: Clyde Smith was born in Jennings, LA on August 23, 1933 to Rufus Smith and Eleanor Bellard Smith. He was called to his Heavenly Father on October 22, 2019. Clyde served our Country honorably in the Army, after which he went on to work for The Superior Oil Company which became Mobil Oil until his retirement from the company. After his retirement Clyde drove for Bubba Oustalet, for twenty plus years. He loved mowing grass, working on cars and woodworking. Above all, he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Clyde was a kind and loving person; he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Clyde is survived by his wife, Wanda Frey Smith of Jennings, LA; son, Jarrod (Shelly Conner) Smith of Jennings, LA; daughter, Jana Smith (Jonathan) Demo of Westlake, LA; grandchildren, Zachary and Kelsey Benoit both of Westlake, LA; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Hillard “Bobby” Smith of Jennings, LA; and sisters, Ludie Trahan and Janice Comeaux both of Jennings, LA. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Eleanor B. Smith; and six brothers, and one sister. Funeral Services for Clyde Smith, 86, of Jennings, LA will be held at Mathews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings, LA on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 4:00 PM. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 11:00 AM until the time of his funeral service. Clyde will be laid to rest in the Calvary Cemetery with Full Military Rites. Carrying Clyde to his final resting place will be Heath Ewing, Todd Rutledge, JJ Dupont, Ric Easley, Darin LaFosse, and Diron Rice.
