Gueydan: The family and friends of Adele Rices are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on May 16, 2020. Adele was born in Newport, RI to Roswell Benjamin Hazard and Helen Bell Mackey on February 12, 1944. She worked in housekeeping at the Gueydan Guest Home, for many years. Adele was a member of the Loyal Daughters of the Community. She loved dancing and singing, but most of all she loved cooking for her cherished family. Adele will be tremendously missed by all those who had the chance to love and know this amazing woman. Adele is survived by her beloved husband, Ellices Rices of Gueydan, LA; sons, Charles Rices of New Mexico and Carl (Zola) Rices of California; daughters, Cheryl (Richard) Maye of Oklahoma, Charlene Rices of Pennsylvania, and Christine Gray of Washington State; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Paula (John) Banks of Houston, TX; and brother, Arthur (Dolly) Hazard of New Mexico. Adele was preceded in death by her father, Roswell Benjamin Hazard; mother, Helen Bell Mackey; daughter, Celeste Rices; Sister, Violet Johnson, and brother’s, Roland and Benjamin Hazard. Funeral Service for Adele Marie Rices,76 will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 6:00 PM with Reverend Ronnie Rhodes officiating. Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21st from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
