MAYNELL DARTEZ GILBEAUX JENNINGS: Services for Maynell Dartez Gilbeaux, 64, will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jennings at 11:00 AM with Father Celsius Offor officiating. Mrs. Gilbeaux was born on August 13, 1943 in Lewisburg, Louisiana to Mary Essie Chavis Dartez and the late Clarence Dartez, Sr. She departed this life on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 12:30 PM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Jennings. She was a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School and McNeese State University. She retired from Jeff Davis Parish School Board as a French and English teacher. She taught at Welsh High School for more than thirty-three years. After retirement, she taught at Lake Arthur and Hathaway High Schools. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she served as Parish Council President and Vice President, Head Lector, Confirmation Coordinator, and Director of Religious Education. She was also a member of the OLPH Sodality. Maynell was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of St. Peter Claver Court 132 where she served on the Board of Trustees and as Financial Secretary. She was a twenty-five year member of the Ladies of Grace Father Herbert F. Schuster Chapter 22 where she served as Faithful Purser and Faithful Scribe. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, a former member of the National Association of University Women, and other organizations. During her teaching career at Welsh High School, she organized educational overseas tours with her French students and parents to Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Scotland, and Switzerland. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband of forty-two years, Wilbert L. Gilbeaux, Sr.; one son, Wilbert (Lorena) Gilbeaux, Jr. of Jennings, Louisiana; one daughter, Erika Gilbeaux of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter, Courtney Thibodeaux of New Orleans, Louisiana; one grandson, Donavon Thibodeaux of Jennings, Louisiana; one great granddaughter, Riley Renee Coutee of New Orleans, Louisiana; her mother, Mary Essie Dartez of Jennings, Louisiana; five brothers, Joseph (Mildred) Dartez, and Hallie Dartez of Jennings, Howard (Cedaree) Dartez of San Diego, California, Elridge (Bridget) Dartez of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Clarence Dartez, Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; eight sisters, Ella (Winston) Williams, Connie (Dorsey) Dartez of Jennings, Louisiana, Lucretia (Calvin) Jenkins, and Mary (William) Dartez of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Betty (Ronald) Boutte, Vina (Foster) Charles, Earline (Kenneth) Marchand, and Esther (Eddie) Dartez of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers in law, sisters in law, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Bridget Gilbeaux Thibodeaux; her father, Clarence Dartez, Sr.; and her brother, Ronald Lee Dartez. Active pallbearers will be Clarence Dwight Dartez, Melvin Johnnie, Jeffrey Marchand, Roland Gilbeaux, Charles Jared Marchand, and Nicholas Simeon. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Dartez, Hallie Dartez, Clarence Dartez, Jr., Howard Dartez, Elridge Dartez, Harry Gilbeaux, Brothers-In-Law, and Nephews. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jennings on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 9:00 AM until time of service. The Gilbeaux/Dartez families would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the host of relatives and friends for all the kind and thoughtful deeds rendered during our time of Bereavement.
