Lisa Renee Hayes Oustalet Services for Lisa Renee Hayes Oustalet will be held under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home on Monday, July 28 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, Louisiana. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a rosary being held at 11 a.m. Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Keith Pellerin at 11:30 a.m. with graveside services following at 12:30 at Calvary Mausoleum. Born in Alexandria, Louisiana on December 27, 1960, Lisa graduated from Bolton High School in 1978, where she participated in Girls State and Presidential Classroom. She was a four-year cheerleader, serving as head cheerleader her senior year. Lisa was elected every year to be a member of the Home Coming Court, and her senior year was Key Club Sweetheart and Homecoming Queen. After school and in the summers, Lisa worked at Caplan's Men’s store and life-guarded at Pinecrest, a local residency program for special needs citizens. Lisa continued her schooling at LSU majoring in Special Education. She pledged Kappa Delta sorority and through her involvement met Joel Oustalet at a mixer. Their 43-year marriage began soon after. Ever energetic, Lisa balanced finishing school and fulfilling family responsibilities with the birth of her daughter Jolie Angele Oustalet, followed later by the births of her sons Joel Phillip Oustalet, II and Chance Christian Oustalet. Lisa and Joel were long-time residents of Jennings, and Lake Arthur before moving to Lafayette. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Joel, and by her parents, Annie Yvonne Shirley Hayes, Harold Lavergne Hayes and her aunt and “second mom” Lucy Illa Shirley Hayes. Supporting her family, the Catholic church, and her husband, Joel’s career in automotive sales were central to her life. Cooking for and entertaining friends and family and church clergy were her love language. Lisa’s enthusiasm for party music and travel made for great stories and enlivened her stints of teaching and substitution in elementary schools. Lisa thoroughly enjoyed her time spent with grandchildren, Richard James, Jack Cannon, Easley Oustalet, Georgia Anne, and Sutton Lucy, as they were the joy of her and Joel’s life. Lisa was active in her faith life and was a long-time member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur and was a member of Catholic Daughters. She was a member of the Entre Nous and Revelers Women’s groups and loved to celebrate occasions great and small. During her over four-decade year marriage to Joel, Lisa travelled all over the United States, the Caribbean and made several trips to Europe and a pilgrimage to Rome. After Joel’s death, Lisa continued to make trips to concerts, and an Alaskan Cruise with her old high school friend Duby Pearce. She was an ardent LSU Tiger fan and loved watching the games at Tiger Stadium. Her laughter, love of entertaining, and enthusiasm for life will be sorely missed by her brother, Donnie Hayes, cousins Nita Bradas Deville, Jeff Bradas of Rapides Parish and Mike Bradas of Grant Parish as well as a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Jolie Oustalet Picou (Richard) of Jennings, son Joel Philip Oustalet, II (Kelly Talley) of Slidell, son Chance Christian Oustalet (April) of Madison, Mississippi. Those honored to serve as pall bearers are her sons Joel Philip Oustalet, II, Chance Christian Oustalet, brother-in-law Ronnie Oustalet, nephew Samuel Hayes, Maurice Enderle and Cody Devine. A reception will follow entombment at Saint Mary’s Center, 719 State Street in Jennings. Flowers may be sent to the church during visiting hours.
